Jon Bon Jovi: “I don't know if I'll be able to go on tour”
Jon Bon Jovi revealed he is unsure if he will be able to tour again after undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022.
This week Bon Jovi announced details of their new album “Forever“and they shared the lead single”Legendary“. The album will be released on June 7th published by EMI Music.
However, due to his health issues, the singer cannot yet confirm that he will be able to undertake a full tour to support the album's release.
In an interview with Mix 104.1 Boston he stated: “I don't know if there will be a tour. It's my desire to do it next year, but I'm still recovering from major surgery.”
“Even though I'm on the road to recovery and I was able to take my time and do a song a day when I made the record, my need and desire, is to be able to do two and a half hours a night for four nights a week for months and months. And so I'm working towards this goal.
The singer recently spoke out about the surgery, saying a Philadelphia doctor performed a procedure known as medialization after one of his vocal cords was found to be atrophiing.
There medialization it is an operation carried out to solve the problem of paralysis of the vocal cords. The operation consists in moving the vocal cord towards the midline by inserting an adjustable spacer laterally to the affected cord. This can be accomplished under local anesthesia, allowing the position of the spacer to be adapted to the patient's voice.
Speaking about the new single in a recent interview, Bon Jovi revealed that the song is a tribute to his wife: “The girl with the brown eyes is usually a reference to Van Morrison (his “Brown Eyed Girl” of 1967), but not in this case. She's my wife,” explains Bon Jovi. “She's been faithfully present throughout this process: 'And the girl with the brown eyes / She believes in me / Legendary.' Here she is. This is who and what I am at 62.”
The LP marks their first album in four years (the previous work was “2020” released in the year of the title) and the first released after the surgery on the singer's voice. Speaking about the creation of “Forever” in a press release, the singer said: “This record is a return to joy. From the writing to the recording process, this is turn up the volume and feel good with Bon Jovi.”
