John Legend and that show in Naples announced without his knowledge
“You will have seen the advertisement of a show in Naples in which it was claimed that I would be one of the protagonist artists. These announcements were published without my knowledge or approval”. Thus begins the post shared by John Legend, 13 times winner at the Grammy Awards and an Oscar winner won in 2014 with “Glory” as “Best original song”, with his 15.8 million followers on Instagram to warn Italian fans from an event in Naples that would have seen his presence. He would, yes, because as explained by John Legend himself there was no agreement between his entourage and the organizers, who instead announced and promoted the artist’s show. The show in question was “Naples 4 Ever”, scheduled for July 6 in Piazza del Plebiscito, in Naples, for which – according to what was announced – Legend should have performed together with Mary J. Blige: the tickets had been put on sale at prices between 69.77 and 111.03 euros.
“My team was contacted on the possibility of performing this show and hoped to reach an acceptable agreement with the show promoter, but we have never done it. Yet the show was promoted as if we had given Okay. Unfortunately I will not perform there. I deeply appreciate love and excitement – I see your messages and your support, and this means everything to me. And I hope to do it again soon.
The event, which on Ticketone was organized by the company Alpha srl, based in Terni, Umbria, was canceled.
