John Cale, another preview from the new album

After the first preview offered with “How we see the light“, John Cale shared another single from his new album “Poptical illusion“, next one coming June 14th.

As a new extract from his next recording project, the former Velvet Underground has released the single “Shark-Shark”.

“Sometimes you write a song purely for a mood,” Cale explained in a statement about the new song, accompanied by a video directed by Abigail Portner: “'Shark-Shark' has two versions, both a nod to the search for humor in music. When you feel too much about the real world, the best diversion is something that makes you smile. I don't know how Abby and her team kept this shoot together – being “not serious” was a lot of fun!

“Poptical Illusion,” which arrives just months after 2023’s “Mercy,” was produced by Cale himself alongside Nita Scott at his studio in Los Angeles. Across 13 tracks, the album finds Cale playing synthesizers, organs, pianos and more.
