Talking about
BB King
,
Joe Bonamassa
He said: “Very few people in music define the genre in which they grow up, BB King is one of these. When BB was alive and active, it was the blues. It was the sun around which all the planets revolved. Only a few artists are the real North who leads the genre in which they participated, but he was that shining star.”

Already in 2021, speaking to Musicradar,
Joe Bonamassa
He expressed his enormous admiration for King when he was asked to list the ten guitarists who had left him speechless. “We are talking about a boy who was able to identify himself with a single note. Those first live recordings of the early 60s:” Live at the Regal “,” Blues is King “… The one for me was the archetype of the electric blues. Together with the quality of the material and its singing, it was simply a tour de force. Of an incredible power.”

The project had the blessing of King’s heirs, with its president,
Vassal Gradington Benford III
who underlined how the inheritance of the deceased Bluesman did not only reside in the music itself, but also in the message that animated her, in her “spirit of love”. “This collection continues its inheritance, so that a new audience can continue to perceive the heart, soul and humanity of the king of the blues.”

When he was a twelve -year -old boy
Joe Bonamassa
opened a concert for
BB King
. “He did me as a mentor. But I was not the only one. All the people in his circle tell the same story about how kind BB and how he hugged the younger generations. The only desire of BB King was: ‘Do everything possible to keep the blues alive’. Well, I hope this album gives a chance to his inheritance and that of blues.”
