Eurovision, Spain, Netherlands and Ireland announce exit

Italy confirms its presence in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026

A press release from Rai confirms participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Italy will participate in the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled in Vienna from 12 to 16 May 2026. As a member of the Big Five, Italy has always been among the countries that have believed in and invested in the Eurovision Song Contest, contributing significantly, including economically, to its development and international success. In recent years our commitment has grown constantly, demonstrating the value we attribute to an event that represents the longest-running international musical event, capable of uniting different cultures in a common celebration. Rai’s commitment within the competition confirms its desire to strengthen Italy’s role in promoting music, culture and entertainment at an international level. From this perspective, Rai, in the debate within the EBU, supported the participation of the Israeli public broadcaster Kan in the next edition.

The statement was necessary as countries such as Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Ireland have announced their withdrawal from participation in the event, but the list could grow further if other nations boycott the competition due to Israel’s participation.
