How much desire for Last Dinner Party
Last Dinner Party. Mark this name. According to the premises, it will be the most in hype on the rock and world alternative scene in the coming months. Then don’t say we didn’t tell you. Moreover, in these parts we have been among the first to underline the strength and originality of the Abigail Morris project, Georgia Davies, Lizzie Mayland, Aurora Nishevci and Emily Roberts, the five members of the all -female band started from the London underwater to make itself the protagonist in a handful of years of a lightning ascetic, arriving to open the Rolling Stones show in Hyde Park in Hyde Park in Hyde Park in Hyde Park in Hyde 2022, to win the prize as Rising Star at the Brit Awards (the statuette that is delivered to the revelation of the last record season, which has placed the group in continuity with Adele, Florence and the Machine, Tom Odell, Sam Smith and James Bay) and to triumph at the BBC sound of 2024 (beating Kenya Grace and Peggy Gou, the DJ of “Nanana”). It was a year and a half ago when we reported the release of their debut album, “Prelude to Ecstasy”, telling how with their being rock’n’roll, alternatives, sensual, fluid and free the Last Dinner Party perfectly embodied the Zeitgeist, the spirit of their time. Now for the quintet we are about to open a new chapter, the most important one: their second album will be released on 17 October, “from the pyre”. It will be that of consecration. And according to the premises, he will not disappoint expectations.
A first anticipation of the album The Last Dinner Parties had already released it in July, with the single, with western colors, “This is the killer speaking “. Now another taste of the project has arrived, with “The Scythe” (and the related video clip). It is a song that winks at the wool of the most inspired Rey. Initially conceived as a breaking song during adolescence of Abigail Morris“The Scythe” shows the remarkable compositional versatility of the Last Dinner Parties:
This disc looks a little more dark, more raw and more land earth. It takes place by looking at a sublime landscape rather than sitting at a laid table. In some places it also seems metatextual and brazen, like a complicit look aimed at ourselves.
If with “Prelude to Ecstasy” the Last Dinner Party had won the attention of the public and professionals with that visual and sound aesthetic proudly freak, between Victorian clothes and inspirations that went from Kate Bush to David Bowie, This time they look more to a certain female songwritinglooking for greater sobriety. About the album, the five girls anticipate:
This disc is a collection of stories linked together by the concept of albums as a myth. “The Pyre” is an allegorical place from which these stories originate, a place of violence and destruction, but also of regeneration, passion and light. The songs are focused on the characters, but still remain deeply personal, daily events brought to the pathological extreme. Being grostat becomes a western dance with a killer, and the broken heart laughs in the face of the apocalypse. The texts evoke rifles, false, sailors, saints, cowboys, floods, mother earth, arc Giovanna and burning hells. We found that this type of evocative images were the most honest and truthful way to discuss our experiences, giving each one the emotional weight it deserves.
The tour linked to “The Pyre” will also pass through Italy. The date to be circled in red on the calendar is that of February 13, 2026when the quintet performs on the stage of the Fabrique Of Milan: don’t look for apologies.
