While Andi Deris, Michael Kiske, Michael Weikath, Kai Hansen, Markus Grosskopf, Sasha Gerstner And Dani Löble working intensively on the successor to the reunion album, bassist and founder Markus Grosskopf explains:
We’ve thought of some great surprises for the fans. In addition to the brand new songs that will be performed live for the first time, we will also play songs from the band’s history that you haven’t heard live for a long time, or even have never heard before. The shows will be a fantastic experience for all of us!
Frontman Andi Deris adds:
We are having a lot of fun working creatively in the studio, the album promises to be a great record – but nothing compares to a live HELLOWEEN concert: the energy of our audience is simply indescribable and I can’t wait to perform in front of our fans again. The next tour will be bigger, better and more impressive than ever!.
The German power metal band has been on the scene since 1983, founded in Hamburg by the guitarist Kai Hansen. After two singles released in 1984 and an EP in 1985, their debut LP arrived in the same year: “Walls of Jericho”.
Over the years the band underwent numerous lineup changes, the first to leave was founder Kai Hansen who left the group in 1988. Other abandonments followed one another over the years and in 1985 came the suicide of former drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg, who threw himself in front of a train because he was afflicted by mental problems and alcohol and drug addictions.
Furthermore, a legal problem interrupts the band’s path. In fact, in 1990 Helloween, at the height of their success, signed a contract with the major EMI and their old record company, Noise Records takes legal action, accusing the group of breaking the existing contract. The ruling at the end of the proceedings decrees that Helloween cannot release records outside of Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan. This creates a problem with overseas fans abandoning the German band.
The record production, to date consisting of 16 albums (the latest is the self-titled “Helloween” from 2021), continues with less success than in the beginning. In 2016, however, it was announced that the original guitarist would return to the band and return to the scene with a seven-piece lineup, three of which were founders. This will be the one that arrives in Milan
