Has Dave Navarro left Jane’s Addiction?
The reunion of the Jane’s Addiction? According to the message (rather obscure, he only wrote ‘Good night…’) published by the guitarist Dave Navarro on his Instagram account it would seem so. It’s all linked to what happened last September 13th at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston when Navarro was attacked on stage by the frontman of the group Perry Farrell.
THE
Jane’s Addiction
had recently returned to the original quartet of Farrell, Navarro,
Stephen Perkins
and
Eric Avery
releasing new music together after 34 years, the single
“Imminent Redemption”
.
Despite the festive atmosphere – it was the drummer’s birthday
Stephen Perkins
– in Boston the climate began to become tense when, during
“Mountain Song”
Farrell began yelling at Navarro. Tensions escalated further during the next
“Three Days”
and finally it exploded on the notes of
“Ocean Size”
when Farrell approached Navarro, pushing him and trying to punch him. The altercation was broken up, the lights dimmed, and the band made their way out, ending the concert in that unseemly and premature manner.
A photographer who was shooting the concert from the stageside at the venue, as reported by NME, said that
Perry Farrell
had “a huge bottle of wine with him all evening” and “Navarro and Avery continued to chat with each other throughout the concert and seemed angrier than usual.”
The band later apologized for the incident but announced that the Bridgeport show was canceled. Now, Navarro’s cryptic social media statement. The band’s next live show
Jane’s Addiction
is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18 in Toronto, Canada. Further developments are awaited in the case that Farrell’s wife
Etty Lau tried to tone things down by declaring
which is “the magic that made the band so dynamic.”
