Gianluca Grignani celebrates 30 years of "Destinazione Paradiso"

Grignani immortal: songs that resist time and fashion

There was a moment in the history of Italian music when Gianluca Grignani seemed destined to be everything: generational pop star, restless rocker, author capable of writing songs that entered the collective imagination and never left it again. Then, as often happens with artists, the trajectory became irregular, bumpy and full of deviations. In 2026 the thirty years of “The plastic factory”the album that more than any other tells of his edgy, ambitious, out-of-format side. An album that was disorientating at the time – too rock, too personal, too little aligned with the immediate success of “Destination Paradise” – but which over time has established itself as his work more iconicAlmost a manifesto of artistic independence. Listening to it again today means understanding how far ahead Grignani was: in sound, in urgency, in the desire to never be where you expect. And perhaps this is also why, three decades later, the new scene continues to look for him. Blanco he wanted him alongside in “Peggio del Diavolo”, one of the most intimate moments of his latest album “Ma'”: a choice that is not only a tribute, but recognition of a similar sensitivity, fragile and incendiary at the same time. And then there is Luchèwho brought him back to “Falco a mezzo”, as if to say that that way of being in the balance – between melody and wound – still speaks to the present. There playlist which you find below, and which you can listen to by clicking on “play“, comes from here: from a rediscovery.

Grignani, after all, has always been this: an artist who doesn’t let himself be tamed. One who has gone through success and its consequences without ever really dulling himself, rejecting compromises and shortcuts. His songs – from “My Story Between Your Fingers” to “Destination Paradise” – remained even when he seemed to move away.

Today that return is suspended. The tour scheduled for spring was canceled due to health problemsdefined as “not serious” but such as to require a stop: «I was really happy to return to the stage and see all of you again, my people. You made me feel all your affection from the day we announced the concerts, which were almost sold out two months after the start of the tour and which represented just the beginning of a new journey to take together. Then, the enthusiasm of the audience that I met again in the streets of Sanremo and the return to singing at the Festival increased the desire to play live even more. I’ve been in the studio for months preparing for the live shows and finishing the album. In the last few days, however, some physical problems have arisen which are not serious, but sufficiently important to require my constant attention, so, unfortunately, I have to stop now. I hope you can understand how difficult it is for me to decide to pause music, which has always been in first place in my life, and to be close to it even now. I’ll be back soon, I promise, we’ll sing and play even louder,” he said. AND a necessary breakbut also a void that the public feels: because Grignani is one of those artists who only really exist when they go on stage. So this playlist is also a way to wait for him. To remember why, at a certain point, his songs were everywhere. And why, after all, they never stopped being so.
