At that time he began to have serious mental health problems. In 1964, due to a series of factors: the tense family relationships, the professional pressure, the growing use of drugs had a collapse and retired from the tours with the beach boys. For over a decade Wilson lived retired and then falling into a deep depression and in a series of ups and downs that compromised its artistic production. He left the beach boys in the mid -eighties and in 1988 he released “Brian Wilson” the first of a dozen solo albums. At the beginning of 2024 it was revealed that he suffered from dementia.
