Goodbye to Sandro Giacobbe
The singer Sandro Giacobbe died today in his home in Cogorno, in the eastern part of Genoa. A source close to the family confirmed this. Jacob was 75 years old and had been fighting cancer for ten years.
Born in Genoa on 14 December 1949) is one of the best-known singer-songwriters of Italian pop music of the Seventies. His first success was, in 1974, “Signora mia”, followed in 1975 by “The forbidden garden” and later by “Gli occhi di tua madre”. It had also become popular in Spain and Latin America.
Having been inactive for some time on record – apart from a few sporadic singles – he had been in the formation of the Nazionale Cantanti, of which he later became coach.
