Friedman was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in early February after noticing several symptoms in the months leading up to his diagnosis. At the time, the New York musician commented on the diagnosis like this. “It’s difficult to know what the future holds for us, it destroys me not to be able to play the guitar anymore, but the outpouring of affection has been truly overwhelming. Ross “The Boss” Friedman he achieved fame as a member of the 1970s punk band Dictators. The group was founded in 1972 by Andy “Adny” Shernoff and Friedman, later completing the initial lineup with Scott “Top Ten” Kempner and the drummer Stu Boy King. Friedman took care of the backing vocals and played lead guitar on them. He appeared on three of the band’s albums during their first incarnation: “The Dictators Go Girl Crazy!”, “Manifest Destiny” And “Bloodbrothers”.
