Goodbye to Peppe Vessicchio
Mourning in the world of Italian music. Maestro Peppe Vessicchio died at the age of 69 (here is our recent interview). The famous conductor passed away this afternoon at the San Camillo hospital in Romewhere he had arrived following a sudden complication. He learns it Adnkronos from sources close to the musician. Born in Naples on 17 March 1956, Vessicchio represented a central figure in the Italian musical panorama: conductor, arranger, composer, television face and constant presence at the Sanremo Festival since the 90s.
After an initial phase of studies at the Neapolitan conservatory and a brief experience in the comedy-musical trio The Trettrehe decided to dedicate himself fully to music. During his career he collaborated with artists of the caliber of Gino Paoli, Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero and many others, signing arrangements and compositions which remained in the history of Italian song. He has been an arranger for Roberto Vecchioni, Elio e le Storie Tese, Syria, Fiordaliso, Zucchero Fornaciari, Lorella Cuccarini, Avion Travel, Ron, Biagio Antonacci, Ornella Vanoni, Fred Bongusto, Baraonna, Tom Jobim, Ivana Spagna, Max Gazzè, Valerio Scanu and others. His presence at the Sanremo Festival became almost ritual, making his figure familiar not only to professionals but to the general public.
