Goodbye to Neil Sedaka

Neil Sedaka has passed away at the age of 86. The singer, songwriter and pianist, known for songs like “Laughter in the Rain” and “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,” died Friday, February 27, in Los Angeles.

“Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather,” the family said in a statement. “A true rock and roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but above all, at least to those of us who were fortunate enough to know him, an extraordinary human being who will be deeply missed.”

Born on March 13, 1939, Neil Sedaka, American singer and composer (he wrote, alone or with others, over 500 songs), boasts several number ones in the Billboard charts, songs “Breaking up is hard to do” in 1962, “Laughter in the rain” in 1974, “Bad blood” in 1975. Sedaka also had a (brief) period of popularity in Italy in the first half of the 1970s. Sixties, when he recorded and published some songs singing in Italian.
