Godai Fest, D’Erasmo: “At the contamination center and curiosity”
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September the spaces of the former Paolo Pini park in Milanin via Ippocrate, will be peacefully invaded by the first Milanese edition of Godai Fest, the multidisciplinary festival that unites music with the performative and visual arts. The appointment was born from an idea of the artist Rodrigo D’Erasmo, of the producer Daniele Tortora and the visual artist Cristiano Carottiwith the aim of breaking down gender fences, connecting the arts, experimenting with new languages, expanding visions, creating spaces for dialogue between artists and audiences on strong topical issues. Art, in all its forms, will be the protagonist of the Godi Fest On a journey through the four elements of human culture (fire, earth, water, air) to which is added, according to oriental philosophy, the principle of emptiness. “Each element corresponds to a curator to whom the task of composing its space was entrusted by calling names and performers who most responded to the Godai project – explains D’Erasmo – This is an interesting aspect because it allows those present to understand and deepen the imagination of an artist to whom he is linked. It all revolves around the wonder of discovery, curiosity and trust. Even we creators of the Festival do not know, completely, what will happen. Today music and art are ‘consumed’ by the public who often already knows what will see, I enjoyed all this “.
The curatorship of the water element was entrusted to the songwriter Giovanni Truppi while for the earth the curator will be the rapper and songwriter Rancorthe fire was assigned to the actress and director Isabella Ragonese and the air to the electronic and producer musician Daniela Pes. The curators of the last element, the void, was entrusted to the author, director and performer Filippo Timi. To welcome visitors to Godii, in the two days from 3 pm onwards, there will be a ferryman who will deliver a map and lead them to a contaminated universe of arts that will come to life inside the parkleveraging on emotions and amazement. “THEThe void today is one of the great themes of contemporaneity – continues D’Erasmo – An void to fill, an existential void, an empty sound, a horror vacui from which nobody is immune. It will be interesting to see how the curators, calling other professionals of any artistic discipline to collecting their element through performance. Many ask us: Will the same curators themselves perform? It is their choice. Timi and Rancore will do it, the others have decided not. ” Godai Fest was born as an experiment in 2013 at the Angelo Mai in Rome, then lives a glorious moment with a special edition in Ancona in 2022 and then today landing in Milan.
“In the Ancona edition we had, as a curator of the air element, Gemitaiz – recalls D’Erasmo – Calamito a young and very different audience from what could be expected in such an event. His presence and his work certified the importance of mixing the cards, of making worlds ‘apparently’ dialogue dialogue. I say so because with Gem we became great friends, united by the same love for contemporary art and for Nick Drake. Here, this is Godii’s magic: whoever explores the festival will remain surprised and hit because nothing has been codified, but every performance tends to be free and not labelable“. The event arrives in Milan in collaboration with the Olinda and The Goodness Factory Association, with a new cultural proposal born with the desire to activate a process of involvement on the urban suburbs: Godi Fest, in fact, is part of “Milan is alive”the program spread throughout the city that brings music, theater, workshops, meetings and much more in all municipalities.
