Giulia Mei and Mille: a hug in the name of “Dear joy”
Giulia Mei presents “Cara Allegria” together with Mille, a piece that is part of the album “I didn’t understand anything about music” released in Marchand which is launched as a single because it is a symbolic bridge between that work and the new artistic path to come. In the song two different but complementary worlds meet: the more experimental and contemporary one of Mei and the vintage and refined one of Mille. The song works precisely because of this natural contamination, where the two souls merge without losing identity. Written by the two singer-songwriters together with Ramiro Levy and Alessandro Di Sciullo, who also oversaw the production, “Cara Allegria” combines the classic timbres of the piano with synths with an 80s flavorin a declaration of love towards an emotion that we often tend to reject instead of protecting it.
Giulia Mei says: “Sometimes I think we are programmed to welcome negative emotions, while we have more difficulty welcoming positive ones. We protect the pain, but the joy, when it comes to visit us, sometimes we don’t even know how to recognize it. I think she should be cuddled and protected and since I don’t know how to do that in life, I wrote her a love song, hoping she likes it and forgives me for all the times I ghosted her.On the collaboration with Mille he adds: “It came naturally, with the arrival of the song itself. His voice and his personality were the missing piece to seal this complex and multifaceted song, twilight and at the same time light as a feather, rough yet impalpable. Furthermore, a friendship ties me with Elisa, without which this collaboration would have had no meaning to exist, and I am very happy that she fell in love with this song like me, putting her pen, her voice and every part of herself into it.”. After the release of the album, Giulia Mei left for a tour produced by Sound To Be and Locusta, which took her on over 50 dates throughout Italy. A special event is coming to Milan, Santeria Toscana 31, on Sunday 23 November, on the occasion of Milan Music Week.
