Giorgia: “I am a rare case for my generation”

Three months have passed since Giorgia’s concert at the Unipol Forum in Milan: last week we found her on the same stage for two more sold out dates. Same tour and the same awareness that this new chance is not a given, this success after a complicated phase of her career: Giorgia thanks the fans from the stage, repeats it to the journalists who meet her backstage at the end of the show. And announce an extension of the tour, which continues in summer and autumn, with the addition of two dates: one at the Rome sports hall on 24 September and a final party on Saturday 3 October at the Dome in Milan, the new arena in Santa Giulia, with guests and duets on stage: “I will invite all the artists who accompanied me on this journey, including Annalisa, Elisa, Blanco, Eros Ramazzotti, Irama and Emma”, he says.

Rediscovered success

“It’s been a year and a half, almost two, that I’ve been experiencing a wonderful moment of music that truly amazes me” – he tells us – I am surprised every day by what is happening, because after 30 intense years of career, experiencing a moment like this, as if I had started all over again, was unexpected, especially in such a complicated moment. And I’m not saying this to be rude, but it’s a fairly rare case for my generation.”
In concert the audience did not deny her, with three ovations for “Come saprei”, “We found love” and “La cura per me” and singing for two hours with the same enthusiasm the great hits of the past and the pieces of “G”, plus a few covers – such as “Purple rain”, recovered thanks to her son, a great Prince fan and taking advantage of the presence – now historic for her – of former Prince musicians in her band. “The good and bad thing about having so many years of career behind you – she tells the journalists shortly afterwards – is that you go through waves over the years in which you also change your mind about what you are doing. There came a time when I needed to be guided and luckily today I have a team that took me by the hand and made me find the desire to move forward again.” Also in the lineup is “Il cielo in una stanza”, which in the second Milanese date became a tribute to Gino Paoli, who passed away that very day.

Future programs

Now the compass points to the summer tour, which will start on July 10th with date zero from Termoli and will pass through 15 cities. “I thought I would rest, but no,” jokes the Roman singer, who will also pass by the Royal Palace of Caserta and the Arena of Verona before a stop at the Palazzetto in Rome – the sixth time in the capital in a year – and then close with the final party at the arena in Santa Giulia. “It will be the celebration of these two years and I will invite all the artists who accompanied me on this journey, including Annalisa, Elisa, Blanco, Eros Ramazzotti, Irama and Emma. If I could have an international guest? I would choose Raye”.

Sanremo?

All things considered, there will therefore be 43 dates in total, with a forecast of 300 thousand spectators. “Then we can do it in the stadium! Jokes aside, I’ve never had the ambition of the stadium, I trust and rely on the vision of my team. Personally I have the melancholic dream of returning to play in small clubs. Of course, the stadium gives you a crazy boost of energy, when I went on Elisa’s stage I felt it. But whether it’s in a theatre, in a club or in a stadium, what I’m looking for is the true essence of music.”
And speaking of big events, the focus shifts for a moment to Sanremo, but Giorgia glosses over and jokes about “After last year I’m in a good place, right?”, she says, recalling her participation in 2025 with “La cura per me”, which ranked sixth but became the second song in the end-of-year rankings, instead redeeming the opaque participation of 2023″. However, she does not rule out participation in other forms: “I met De Martino half a time at De Filippi, he knows the my partner because they are both dancers.”

New music, then the break

An expanded version of “G” is also on the way: “I was advised to start writing again, I haven’t done it in a while. I’ve regained confidence with my things, my pen has unlocked, I’ve found the courage to write that I had put aside at a time when I didn’t know what to sing, what to write and how to write. In the last four years the way of composing metric and harmonies has changed. I already feel some things are mine, because they come from a musical basin in which I grew up, with which I’m familiar, like the harmonies of hip-hop or Italian rap I first had to learn to sing new things and make them my own, it’s like a challenge I do with myself”.
