Goodbye to Gino Paoli

Gino Paoli: the ashes will be scattered at sea

Gino Paoli’s ashes, as per his wishes, will be scattered at sea. Not just any sea, but the one that washes a place so dear to the Genoese singer-songwriter: Boccadasse, a neighborhood in his Genoa. It is one of the places most loved by the author of “Senza fine”, which inspired lyrics of songs such as “La gatta” and “Boccadasse” itself. Tomorrow, Thursday 26 March 2026, the artist’s funeral will take place, which will take place as requested by the family in a strictly private manner, in line with the maximum confidentiality requested in the note with which the death was announced, which occurred in the night between Monday and Tuesday in his home in Genoa.

Speaking of Boccadasse, in 2022 when he was awarded the honor of the Cross of Saint George established by the Liguria Region “in favor of Italian or foreign citizens who have distinguished themselves for particular merits of cultural, social or moral value”, he said: «Awards almost never interest me. But the moment it is given to me by Genoa and Liguria then it becomes important. I am in love with this city. My favorite place is Boccadasse, where I lived for two years as soon as I left home.”
