Gianni Moroccolo, “The bass notor”. Video interview

In October the Teatro 89 space in via Fratelli Zoia89 a Milan will host two special projects by Gianni Moroccorolo: in addition to the concert together with Hugo Race dedicated to their concept album “The Vigil”, scheduled for Saturday 18 October, Moroccoli will also be on stage on Friday 17 October with his show “The bass sonore” (tickets are available on Ticketone).

The bass notor “celebrates the 50th anniversary from the first meeting with the electric bass of the one who today represents one of his most influential interpreters. On stage, for the first time in a solo guise on bass, Gianni Moroccan gives life to a sound journey, flanked by Mur Rouge, bassist and collaborator, to reveal technical and artistic secrets behind the” Moroccolian sound “; Narration that intertwines music and words; with the extraordinary participation of Andrea Chimenti, singer and historical collaborator to accompany a selection of songs to the voice and guitar. Received, and other projects; collaborations with artists such as Claudio Rocchi;

The show was born between the pages of two complementary books, released in May 2025 for books of the aparterator books, at the end of a crowdfunding campaign that collected the adhesion of 738 co-producers: “The bass notor”-a collection of transcriptions on the score and tablating of the bass parts of over 100 of the most representative songs of the career of Gianni Moroccolo-and “Memoirs of a low-low sound”. The genesis and evolution of those songs, revealing anecdotes, reflections and background on his music (we published an extract here).

Of this and more I spoke with Gianni Moroccoli in the video conversation that you can see below.
