Damiano David: "My solo album? An emotional diary"

From Damiano to Pete Doherty: the albums to be released this week

From the solo debut of Damiano David, without “his” Maneskin, to return – always in alone – of the frontman of the Libertines Pete Doherty: among the most anticipated records among those released this Friday, May 16, there are the new works of the voice of “Zitti e Bononi” and of British rocker. But like any self -respecting New Music Friday, record releases aim to satisfy all musical palates: not only rock, but also pop, country and rap. Among the albums to report, the new by Jin (it is one of the members of the BTS, the South Korean boy band of records), that of the king of the new American country Morgan Wallen, the one that marks the return of Niccolò Fabi and also that of Luchè.

Damiano David – “Funny Little Fears”

With the Maneskin he had to do the leader Rockettaro of what the New York Times called, after the sensational victory at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Zitti e Buoni”, “The Last Rock Band”, “The Last Rock Band”. Now, alone, with the group on a permanent pause, Damiano David aims to play and experiment in a less rock and more pop guise than that with which he has made himself known to date by the general public. By announcing the project as a soloist, the Roman singer showed up as “a wilt”. In an interview with the US Youtuber Allison Hagendorf explained that he wanted to show how much more authentic there is in him, beyond the “compromises” necessary to make “four brains together” work, leaving a turning point to peek. Singles such as “Born with a Broken Heart”, “Next Summer” and “Voices” have confirmed it. One wonders: how, in the future, can you return to being the frontman of the “last rock band”?

Jin – “Echo”

The BTS, the South Korean band of records that allowed the K-pop, the pop made in Korea, to conquer the world rankings, continue to be also on the pause. In the meantime, another of its components, Jin, publishes a solo project: the EP “Echo” contains seven songs that the singer will present live with a tour, “Runseokjin Ep. Tour”, departing on June 28 by Goyang, South Korea, before ending in August. The album comes out for the same label as the BTS, the big hit: the umbilical cord has not yet been cut. According to the advances of the Big Hit itself, the album “will tell the experiences of life and universal life and emotions through Jin’s unique and fascinating perspective”. Written in Korean and English, the EP has been anticipated by the single “Don’t say you love me”.

Morgan Wallen – “I’m the problem”

To give up the throne Morgan Wallen just does not want to know. The US singer -songwriter who made the country again cool and pop applied to his career the tricks of the trade unveiled by Taylor Swift to dominate the era of Spotify: hyper -production and constant presence on the scenes. “I’m the problem” is the third album that Wallen publishes in four years, after the double album “Dangerous” of 2021 and “One Thing At a Time” of 2023. Between country and pop, the Tennessee singer -songwriter aims to consolidate his success, which knows no signs of flexion. On the disc also duets with Tate McRae (the Britney Spears of the Z generation) and Post Malone (on “I Ain’t Comin ‘Back”).

Pete Doherty – “Felt Better Alive”

Pete Doherty returns to the spotlight with “Felt Better Alive”, his new solo work, out for his Strap Originals label. Anticipated by the homonymous song, the disc explores country sounds imbued with melancholy and existential reflections, evoking images of a rock’n’roll experienced on the margins of the time. The singer, interviewed by NME, described the project as a tribute to the youthful imagination of writing the perfect song, inspired by an imaginary parallel similar to that of the film “Yesterday”. “As a child I imagined I was the only one to know the songs of the Beatles, pretending to have written them – said Doherty – is the dream of anyone who has ever sung in front of the mirror with a hair brush. This disc represents that fantasy, brought to an even more intimate and personal level”.

Lucé – “My worst side”

Luchè revealed the tracklist of his new album “My worst side”, coming out on May 16th. The artist has practically the whole scene at his side: Sfera Ebbasta, Simba La Rue, Geolier, Rose Villain, Giorgia, Marracash, Guè, very black snake, Kaash Paige, Coco, Tony Effe, Shiva, Tony Boy, Ntó. An explosive mix of collaborations that, in a project destined to make noise, brings together icons of Italian music, among the strongest of the current scene, artists who unite Urban and Pop, up to the overseas with a nascent star of American r’n’b music.

Niccolò Fabi – “Freedom in the eyes”

It is “Freedom in the eyes”, the title of the next album of unpublished Niccolò Fabi. The Roman singer -songwriter communicated that he had concluded the recording and production of his next unpublished album, made in a chalet on Lake Caprioli (Trentino) together with Emma Nolde, Roberto Angelini, Alberto Bianco, Cesare Augusto Giorgini, Filippo Cornaglia and Riccardo Parravicini. “Freedom in the eyes”, tenth album by unpublished by the singer -songwriter, is the result of a real artistic residence. An ancient way, but unusual enough these days, to think about the creation of a disc.
