From Billy Idol to Snoop Dogg: the albums of the week
The most relevant album is by Billy Idol, among all those out this week. The countdown is about to end: Friday 25 April the 69 -year -old Rockstar will send in the shops – and on streaming platforms – his new unpublished album, the first in even eleven years, as many as they have passed by “Kings & Queens of the underground” of 2014. The album will mark the return on the scenes of a real music icon of the last fifty years. Also waiting for Natalia Lafourcade’s new album, for Willie Nelson’s, for the new Snoop Dogg. And among the Italians, Carl Brave and the Marcio world stand out.
Billy Idol – “Dream Into it”
The punk icon returns more charged and adrenaline than ever. “Dream Into It”, this is the title of the new album of the former Generation X leader, is a journey on the Russian mountains. The nine songs tell a rich and deeply personal story: that of Idol, who traces all his career, since he was a young punk rock dreamer to maturity. The disc is presented as “a completely satisfactory Odyssey punk/pop rock for the old school/New School, as only Billy Idol and the longtime guitarist/collaborator Steve Stevens can create”. Among the guests Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart.
Snoop Dogg – “Altar call”
Snoop Dogg returns to his roots with his next album, “Altar Call”, released on April 27. The project will be a tribute to the deceased Snoop mother. “On April 27th I will publish a Gospel album with the Death Row Records. It is titled Altar Call,” he said in a video published on Instagram a week ago. The project will see the participation of Jamie Foxx, Robert Glasper, Denaun Porter, Jazze Pha, Charlie Bereal, Jane Handcock, Octaber London and others in the 21 tracks that make it up.
Marcio world – “I think”
The Milanese rapper, pioneer of the Hip Hop Mainstream in Italy, presents a record that deals with deep issues such as inner research, spiritual evolution and the relationship with modern society. “I believe” was anticipated by the title track. Marcio deals with loss, ambition, social unease and the continuous search for balance between the human being and modern society. The rapper explains the meaning of the title: “‘I believe’ is what accompanies us in our life, the arc of the hero of our personal film, the story that each of us unconsciously chooses to tell to himself since children.”
Carl Brave – “Nights Brave Amarcord”
Not a remake of the album that in 2018 marked his solo debut after his joint debut with Franco126 with “Polaroid”, as the title could make you think. “Nights Brave Amarcord” is a new unreleased album of the Cantautorapper Trasteverino who, as the protagonist of the Circuito Indie, has become a pop star thanks to hit as “Photography”, “I can”, “Spigoli”, “Living all lives”, “Hula-Hoop” and “Makumba”. The disc, described as “the fruit of an intense musical research with new electronic influences, exploring unpublished sounds, more dark atmospheres and unconventional beats”, comes two years after the previous “migration” and has been anticipated by the single “dead a surf”. Zero Duetti, by choice of Carl Brave himself.
Willie Nelson – “Oh What a Beautiful World”
Only in November he had published “Last Leaf on the Tree”. Now Willie Nelson, 91, already releases another unreleased album. “Oh What a Beautiful World” will be the studio record number 77 of the career of the country icon, but if you also add the live, the collections and other publications, its discography with this album will reach 154 titles in all. Simply irreducible.
Roberto Angelini and Rodrigo d’Erasmo – “The dominion of light”
By announcing their project, Roberto Angelini and Rodrigo D’Erasmo said: “Our first unpublished project will be released on April 25 after years of intense collaboration and deep work done on the immortal music of our beloved Nick Drake. We have been working for more than two years and we keep a lot. It is a magical, mysterious and multifaceted object. An instrumental music album, a sort of soundtrack of an imaginary film. Even a book to which many authors and authors have contributed and we love and with whom we wanted to collaborate and confront each other “.
