Fripp and Toyah's Sunday Lunch today features Rolling Stones
Robert Fripp And Toyah Willcox even today they published a new episode of 'Sunday Lunch' in which they reinterpret some classic and less classic rock songs in their own way. Today was the turn of a great classic of the Rolling Stones, “Sympathy For The Devil”the opening track of the 1968 album “Beggars banquet”.
As you can see in the cover video, at the beginning of the clip the 77-year-old Fripp addresses the audience jokingly: “Well, I'm back from a week after a ten-week absence and I'm wondering, should I change my wife for an older woman?” .
Then here is the 65 year old.Toyah standing on the table with her hair all done up singing the Stones' hit while her husband watches her sitting on a chair with a look somewhere between scared and worried.
The two started 'Sunday Lunch' at the time of Covid, in 2020, to keep busy in times of lockdown. Since then they haven't stopped, their Sunday date is very popular on YouTube and last year they took it on tour in Great Britain, including the Glastonbury festival.
Last year
Toyah
speaking to eonmusic about the series' popularity he said: “Sunday Lunch was born on April 19, 2020 after we posted a 28-second clip and got 100,000 clicks in five minutes from people who were just desperate, absolutely desperate. They were alone. They were in lockdown. They didn't know when they would be able to leave their homes and we, Robert and I, realized that, at that particular moment, it was a very lonely and scared world.”
