he turned 50 last October. The collaboration between Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart in May 1975 gave rise to a series of new compositions, a tour and finally an album.

“Bongo Fury” consists primarily of live recordings from May 20 and 21, 1975 at the Armadillo Headquarters in Austin, Texas, along with additional studio recordings at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. The album is a classic of Zappa’s discography and the last to feature the name of his band, the Mothers, on the cover.

5CD/1BR Super Deluxe – This new edition is published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary and presents 5 CDs with lots of unreleased material including studio outtakes and live tracks including two complete concerts at the Armadillo, remixed from the original analog masters.

The boxset also includes never-before-seen photos and liner notes written by Denny Walleyguitarist and member of the band during that short tour, and by the manager of the Zappa archive Joe Travers.

The Blu-Ray presents the new Dolby Atmos version, 5.1 mixes and high resolution stereo audio + surround bonuses taken from the Zappa archives.

2LP – New black vinyl version, 2LP 180g: Contains the original album remastered by Bernie Grundman plus a bonus disc featuring highlights from the 6-disc set. Also includes a lithograph and a booklet with previously unpublished photos and liner notes written by Denny Walleyguitarist and member of the band during that short tour, and by the manager of the Zappa archive Joe Travers.

1LP – Black vinyl version, 180g LP: contains the album remastered by Bernie Grundman using the original master tapes.

1LP Colored (D2C Exclusive) – Colored vinyl version (Orange & Black Galaxy): contains the album remastered by Bernie Grundman using the original master tapes plus a lithograph.
