Flea releases a new single, surprisingly

Flea amazes everyone, once again. Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist releases surprise single, “To Plea“, which marks the musician’s return to his first instrument and first musical love: the trumpet. The song anticipates a new album that will be released in 2026, created with “the band of dreams”.

The dream band is an ensemble of “visionary jazz musicians“: in addition to Flea on electric bass, vocals and trumpet, there are double bassist Anna Butterss and guitarist Jeff Parker, drummer Deantoni Parks, percussionist Mauro Refosco, alto flutist Rickey Washington and trombonist Vikram Devasthali. Chris Warren joins on vocals, as does the song’s producer, Josh Johnson, who also plays alto sax.

The text describes the “division in the world” and, according to its author, “a longing towards a place beyond, a place of lovewhere I can speak my mind and be myself.”

I always just try to be myself. I’m not interested in politics. I think there is a much more transcendent place above it, where a dialogue can happen that can really help humanity and help us all live harmoniously and productively, in a way that is healthy for the world. There is a place where we meet, and that is love.
