Fedez against Ghali for the post on rappers and Gaza

It’s controversy between Fedez And Ghali after a post published by the Milanese rapper on social media regarding the silence of the Italian scene on the conflict in the Middle East. Ghali, days ago, published a message in which he criticized rappers who did not take a position on the war in Gaza. In the post, the voice of “Casa mia” wrote that many colleagues are silent “so as not to lose sponsors or collaborations” and that silence is equivalent to a form of complicity: “If you don’t speak, you are for genocide.” The message ends with a provocative phrase: “Rap is dead,” referring to the loss of the social commitment that he believed had characterized hip hop culture in the past.

Fedez responded during an episode of his podcast Pulp and through social media. He accused Ghali of moralism and inconsistency, recalling that he also collaborated with international brands such as McDonald’s And Ikeacompanies that he says have economic ties to Israel. “You can’t be moral to others if you have worked with brands that support that part of the conflict,” said Fedez. The latter he then added, claiming that he had already spoken about the issue some time ago: “Where were you eleven years ago, when similar tragedies happened? You can’t just rediscover commitment today”. Finally, he launched a further accusation: “I hope this post is not a move to promote new music. If it were, you would go from stopping genocide to adverting genocide.”
