Farewell to Paolo Benvegnù: the memories of friends and colleagues
Today Italian music has lost one of its most intense and authentic voices of the last thirty years: Paolo Benvegnù passed away prematurely at the age of 59. Following the sad news, colleagues and friends of the singer-songwriter and musician took to social media to send their final farewells.
Among those who expressed words in memory of Paolo Benvegnù, there were the artists he had called as guests to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his first solo album, released last October in the new edition “Piccoli fragilissimi film – Reloaded”.
“Sweet Paolo, I’m speechless… have a safe trip my friend”, is the short but intense message published by Tosca together with a photo of her with Benvengù on Instagram. Tiziana “Tosca” Donati had participated in the re-release of “Piccoli fragilissimi film” with a contribution on “Cerchi nell’acqua”.
“It hurts”, are the only two words that Malika Ayane shared in her Instagram stories, taking a photo of the late musician. “Have a safe journey among the stars of music, dear friend Paolone”, are the words of Piero Pelù.
Andrea Appino, Motta, Fast Animals and Slow Kids and Ermal Meta are just some of the other colleagues and friends who remembered Paolo Benvegnù with a message, an emoticon or a photo. “Your music was important to me and to many others. Thank you for your gifts and your passion. We will miss you Paolo”, are the words of Ermal Meta in a story on Instagram.
“We are shocked by the sudden passing of our friend Paolo Benvegnù. Tonight’s episode of Via dei Matti n°0 with the Groove& was recorded days ago and will be broadcast at 8.00pm but our thoughts at the moment are all with Paolo and his family”, is the message from Stefano Bollani, who wanted Benvegnù as a guest on his program in an appointment broadcast last night.
In a note, the Board of Directors and friends of Club Tenco wrote about Paola Benvegnù:
“Paolo was an artist of great value and a pure person. Just last October he collected his first Targa Tenco, the most coveted one, for record of the year.
He was one of the most beloved Italian singer-songwriters, a point of reference for the songwriting of the last thirty years, the human one, the authentic one”.
