Fantastic Negrito: his new album is out today

Anticipated by ‘”Undefeated Eyes”, the song (not present on the album) with the feat of Stingand by individuals ‘California Loner‘ And ‘Runaway From You‘, the new album is out Fantastic Negrito ‘Son Of A Broken Man’.

Xavier Amin’s sixth studio album Ddphrepaulezz (as he was born) arrives a year after ‘Grandfather Courage’, the acoustic and enriched version of ‘White Jesus Black Problems’.

The album, certainly his most personal work to date, explores his human relationships, moving through family, deception and the human desire to hide the true self, while immersing himself in one of the oldest conflicts in human history, the fight between father and son.

From a young age Negrito was told falsehoods by his father. An invented surname, invented origins and a fake Somali accent. Why lie? Why create this false narrative?

These are the questions that Fantastic Negrito had to ask themselves and which have become the heart of ‘Son Of A Broken Man’.

Born Xavier Amin Ddphrepaulezz, much has been made of Negrito’s singular story: his early years growing up in an Orthodox Muslim family, the failed major label contract that drove him away from the music industry, the near-fatal car accident which permanently damaged the hand with which he plays the guitar, the extraordinary path of redemption began in 2015, when he won the first NPR Tiny Desk Contest.

In the years since, Negrito has done well 3 consecutive Grammy Awards in the ‘Best Contemporary Blues Album’ category, he has performed on long tours around the world, opened concerts for artists of the caliber of Sturgill Simpson, Chris Cornell, Bruce Springsteen, collaborated with numerous musicians including Sting and E-40, he launched his own label, Storefront Records, performed at the world’s biggest festivals from Lollapalooza to Glastonbury and founded Revolution Plantation, an urban farm aimed at youth education and empowerment.

The fifth studio album, 2022’s ‘White Jesus Black Problems’, marked the first release from his new label, Storefront Records, followed, the following year, by ‘Grandfather Courage’, the acoustic reinterpretation of the previous work defined by PopMatters as “a compelling and touching work of acoustic blues and roots music.”

The album was released in digital version, la physical distribution will start on November 8th
