Three broadcasters from Bulgaria (BNT), Romania (TVR) and Moldova (TRM) return to the Contest after three, two and one year of absence respectively, on the occasion of its 70th edition. However, Iceland, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Slovenia will be missing, protesting against the failure to exclude Israel.
15 songs will compete in the first semi-final on May 12th and 15 songs in the second semi-final on May 14th.
As previously announced, for the first time since 2022 juries will return to voting in the semi-finals. Their points will be added to the public vote results to decide the 10 songs that will qualify for each semi-final.
These 20 songs will join pre-qualified entries from channels ORF (Austria), FT (France), ARD/SWR (Germany), Rai (Italy) and BBC (UK) in the final on 16 May.
Subsequently, viewers from all participating countries and the rest of the world, together with the juries nominated by the 35 participating radio stations, will vote in the final to decide the winner of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.
The draw to determine in which semi-final each song will be performed will take place in Vienna on Monday 12 January.
