Eric Clapton no longer thinks about retiring to private life
Next year Eric Clapton he will make it 80, but for now he isn't thinking about retiring. He confirmed this in a recent chat with The Real Music Observer, when it was brought to his attention that some journalists in the United States argue that the 79-year-old British guitarist would be wise to retire while he still plays very well.
The interviewer, among other things, told him that his singing seems to have improved over the years, to which Eric Clapton he responded, “I feel like it is because I tried to be.
I remember asking Stevie Wonder. We met in a hotel in the 70s and I asked him: 'How can you sing like that?' He replied: 'Are you breathing?' Do breathing exercises.' I thought, 'That never occurred to me.' But if you breathe and from here, the diaphragm, it's easier to tune. Some people don't have to worry about it. They are naturally gifted, but I have to work at them a bit, I have to go for walks, do some exercise.”
In reality there was a period in which Clapton himself talked about hanging up his guitar. In fact, in a 2014 interview with Uncut he explained: “Touring has become unbearable because it takes so long to get anywhere. Everything causes me intolerance: entering and exiting airports, traveling on planes and in cars. There are so many things I would like to do, I'm also thinking about retirement. What I will allow myself to do, within reason, is continue recording in the studio. I don't want to get to the point where I embarrass myself.”
Ten years have passed since then Eric Clapton he never stopped playing in concert. Including this period when she is on tour and on June 2nd she will perform hers the only Italian concert at the Lucca Summer Festival.
