Ennio Morricone: “The Sicilian clan” is released with unreleased songs

The new edition of “Il Clan dei Siciliani” (CAM Sugar/UMe) is out, the complete soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone for the 1969 film of the same name by Henri Verneuil, one of the most famous European noirs of the sixties. The re-release of the album, available exclusively on triple vinyl and double CD, was born from the discovery in the historical archives of CAM Sugar of the original master tapes of the entire recording session, kept for decades and never listened to in their entirety, including eight unreleased songs now restored and presented to the public for the first time, exclusively in physical format. The unreleased songs featured in “Il Clan dei Siciliani” were heard for the first time during SLAM Festival, the international soundtrack festival born from the collaboration between CAM Sugar and Triennale Milano, on the occasion of Morricone segrete, the listening session curated by Andrea Fabrizii in Spazio Voce.

The Clan of the Sicilians is part of the Secret Archive, a new series of publications by CAM Sugar in physical format, to return to the general public the works of the composers in their most complete and definitive form, enriched by unpublished works and study material. In fact, with this publication CAM Sugar’s mission of rediscovering and valorising the great heritage of Italian film music continues. The work gives the public one of Ennio Morricone’s most emblematic soundtracks, capable of amplifying the tense and refined atmosphere of Henri Verneuil’s noir, starring Jean Gabin, Alain Delon and Lino Ventura. The meeting between French cinema and Italian musical sensitivity gives life to a masterpiece of balance and emotional depth, where each theme reflects the thin border between honor, deception and guilt.
