Eminem rejected a feat with Nas
Eminem rejected a featuring request from the sender Nas? It seems so, but not out of hatred or enmity. This was revealed by Nas himself, who in a new interview declared that he attempted to include Eminem in the single “Daughters“, a song from the 2012 album “Life is Good”.
“Every record I make is not a battle. I remember sending the song ‘Daughters’ to Eminem and at the time he spent so much time talking about daughters that he said to me, ‘Thanks, but I told my daughter that I’m not going to make any more songs directly about daughters at the moment because it’s a sensitive topic with all the music I put out,'” alluding to songs like “Mockingbird” and “Hailie’s Song.”
“I think his message was like, ‘Thank you, because most people want to make songs where they challenge me on a record. It was comforting to see a record where they don’t attack me.'” The two rappers worked together only twicethe first in “The Cross”, a song produced by Eminem for Nas’ 2002 album “God’s Son”; then, in 2021, they teamed up for “EPMD 2”, from Nas and Hit-Boy’s “King’s Disease II”.
Over the years, both have spoken about theirs mutual admiration. More recently, Eminem spoke openly about the impact Nas’ 1994 debut album, “Illmatic,” had on him in an interview with the New York Times: “It was in and out of the rhyme scheme. That album threw me for a loop, too. I know it inside out.” He also revealed in 2021 that he spent $600 on a sealed cassette of “Illmatic.”
