Elton John brings dance back to vinyl
It’s not just a collection, it’s a piece of club culture pressed on vinyl. “Elton John: The Remixes” is released on April 18th in a limited edition glow-in-the-dark (1LP), available exclusively in stores participating in Record Store Day via Positiva Records. The next day, digital landing on Beatport. The project brings together some of the strongest reinterpretations of Elton’s catalogue, with signatures that speak directly to the track: The Blessed Madonna, Purple Disco Machine, Claptone, The 2 Bears, Sanchez, Shep Pettibone and more. Five of these remixes arrive on vinyl for the first time. There is a true story behind it: that of Elton in the clubs of New York in the 70sbetween lights and sound revolution, in places like Studio 54. From there was born an unbroken bond with dance music, which today returns in physical, concrete, collectible form. “We did something special for dance fans,” he said. And in fact this album is exactly that: a bridge between eras, between worn 12″s and new generations, between radio and track. And above all, it is another reminder: music still comes from record shops.
