Elio e le Storie Tese’s dig at Tony Pitony
The Tony Pitony phenomenon continues to be talked about. While last Sunday Carlo Conti announced the participation of the “Donneriche” singer at the 2026 Sanremo Festival as a guest of Ditonellapiaga in the evening of covers and duets, on their official social channels Elio and le Storie Tese launched a sort of dig aimed precisely at Tony Pitony, considered by many as an heir to the iconoclastic attitude of the “La terra dei cachi” band. The Elii pulled out of their archive some photos portraying the performer Luca Mangoni during a concert of the group with an Elvis mask just like the one worn by Tony Pitony. In the caption they wrote: «Mangony Pitony?», tagging Tony Pitony. The band then underlined how the photos date back to 2013, thirteen years ago.
Meanwhile, on social media, rapper Ketama126, a member of the Love Gang collective, lashed out against Tony Pitony. “I wanted to say that Tony Pitony only makes subhumans laugh,” Ketama wrote in one story.
Fiorello doesn’t think the same way, as last week on La Pennicanza, on Rai Radio2, he connected with Tony Pitony, sang his “Triquila” («La minchia mi Pisa un chilo / un chilo con tutto il pilo / e Quando ce l’ho l’ommosciata / mi Pisa na tunnellata») and said: «In this musical flatness that afflicts the Italian scene, Tony Pitony arrives to illuminate everything with his brilliance. No one knows his real name, no one has ever seen his face. They say his lyrics are heavy… but art is art.”
At the Sanremo Festival Tony Pitony will duet with Ditonellapiaga on the notes of “The Lady Is a Tramp” composed by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart for the Broadway musical “Babes in Arms”, before being reinterpreted by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
