Vedder: “Taylor Swift fans remember punk rock audiences”

Eddie Vedder invites a boy to play with Pearl Jam

Yesterday i Pearl Jam performed at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, a stop on their Oceania tour – in support of the album “Dark matter” (read the review here) released by the Seattle band last April – hosting the frontman of Crowded House (and ex Split Enz) Neil Finn to perform a cover by the Australian band the Hunters & Collectors“Throw Your Arms Around Me”.

Before performing the song the singer of Pearl Jam Eddie Vedder told the audience: “There’s a guy who’s been holding this sign all evening.

It’s a pretty well done sign. He says, ‘Ed, can I play guitar with you?’ Do you want to play this guitar? Well, I’ll find out your name later, but I’m sorry, boy. It was either you or Neil Finn. I was supposed to play with Neil Finn.”

Vedder kept his promise, in fact the boy went on stage and joined the group to play the band’s frontman’s Telecaster on the notes of the classic by Neil Young “Rockin’ in the Free World” usually proposed by Pearl Jam just before closing the set with “Yellow Ledbetter”.
