Dua Lipa returns to enchant Milan with the cover of Raffaella Carrà

Let’s start from the most awaited moment, the one who lit the heart of the Milanese audience: yes, Dua Lipa sang in Italian. For the now inevitable moment of his concerts, with the tribute to a local artist, the British pop star has chosen to reinterpret “to make love you start” by Raffaella Carrà. In the long countdown that preceded his return to Italy, three years after the last tricolor date, the fans had fun betting on which national icon he would reinterpret the singer -songwriter of Kosarta origins on stage. And among all the possible names, that of the Bolognese showgirl, who disappeared in 2021, was the most dreamed, the most awaited. The expectations, this time, were not unheeded: they were welcomed and transformed into a tribute that has been able to unite voice, memory and party.

The cover of the Hit of Raffaella Carrà arrives in the second act of the concert that Dua Lipa brings on stage on 7 June to the Snai La Maura Hippodrome in Milan, as part of the I-Days. After the opening entrusted to the very young English singer -songwriter Alessi Rose, a mix between Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams on electric guitars in the foreground, the star of the day is ready to take the scene.

It is almost nine in the evening, and the sky is still clear when the stage begins to turn on. The musicians take their place one after the other, while the scenography begins to reveal themselves. At the center of the scene, a sinuous and elevated catwalk cuts the space with elegance, illuminated along the edges from a line of lights that leads it to a central steps. Behind them, a huge curved screen rises like a wave, following a soft, almost liquid profile. The whole has something unreal, and the stage seems to float in a dream landscape.

In line with the cover and concept of “Radical Optimism”, the latest album by Dua Lipa, the central screen comes alive with images of impetuous waves, which break one after the other, until, as emerged directly from the heart of the sea, the singer appears at the center of the scene, going up from a trap door. The attack is immediate and the cantate immediately puts things clear: the voice is its strong point, but not only. Each of his shows, now, is a perfect machine, an international production worthy of a real pop star. The task of opening the dances is entrusted to the single “Training Season”, at the beginning with a minimal arrangement, then open to more elaborate instruments with the intricate choreography of the specific body of dance. Dua Lipa shows up here with a white bodice, embellished with brilliant boots, which immediately makes her feel a diva when the dancers surround her with feathers on “end of an era”.

In a show divided into four acts and a final moment with bis, marked by changes of dress and atmosphere, for almost two hours interrupted of music, Dua Lipa mixes recent songs together with more well -known songs. The audience is like a party where he knows all the songs to sing or dance. There are children, adults, teenagers and fans more avid under the stage. A special moment is dedicated to them during the second act of the concert, after “Leviting”, when the singer in her tight -fitting meadow of Pizzo Rosso goes down to the public to indulge in selfies and fast hugs with the first rows.

When we reapproper the scene, the pop star chooses to embrace the entire racetrack by taking the central catwalk. In an almost perfect Italian, Dua Lipa grants with kindness to the fans, that she says to be over 73 thousand, to introduce the cover of Raffaella Carrà: “I am happy to be here, this energy is incredible,” he says: “Every evening of the tour, I sing a different song of a local artist. Tonight I will try to sing it for you. In Italian”.

Wearing a silver dress with fringes, the singer animates one of the most lively moments of the evening with “Physical” to dictate the energy. Intimacy and dream come in the fourth act with Dua Lipa dressed in white lace, while it seems to fly through the clouds projected into the screens on “Falling Forever” and “Happy for You”. But the final battery solo of the latter piece does not turn off the frenzy. We return to dance with “Love Again” and “Be the One”, before the encore.

For the final moment of the evening, the star turns again, embracing a deeper but never vulgar sensuality. Black body, golden chains, Chanel jewels and Louboutin boots give Dua Lipa the best image to close a show that confirms talent and caliber. To greet the Milanese fans, the singer proposes other hits from her repertoire, more or less recent, from “New Rules” to “Houdini”, without forgetting a hint to the song “Dance the Night” of the film “Barbie”. The audience is still dancing when he leaves the hippdrome.
