Diplo: accused of revenge porn again
After the lawsuit in 2021 and the accusation of ex-partner Shelley Auguste, Diplo has been sued again for revenge porn. According to the US edition of “Rolling Stone”, the complaint was filed in the District Court of California on June 27 by a woman under the pseudonym Jane Doe.
In the lawsuit, Jane Doe accuses the DJ and producer, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, of sending sexually explicit videos and photos of her to another woman and says she began contacting Diplo via Snapchat in 2016, when she was 21. In addition to exchanging explicit images, the two met in person in June of that year, when the DJ invited her to his Manhattan hotel room, according to court documents obtained by Rolling Stone US. The woman, who says she and Diplo had a casual seven-year relationship, claims in the lawsuit that she consented to his request to film their sexual encounters, but that she was clear that she would not share their private material with third parties.
Jane Doe also said she was contacted last November by someone who claimed to be in possession of private videos and images she said Diplo sent via Snapchat in October 2018. The lawsuit then reads: “Based on the information available, Defendant Diplo has continued to disclose and/or distribute (Doe)’s intimate images and/or videos from 2018 to the present.”
While Jane Doe also said she filed a complaint with the New York Police Department on November 7, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued, the NYPD did not confirm this to Rolling Stone but assured Rolling Stone that an investigation is underway: “There is a criminal distribution complaint on file for a suspect by the name of Thomas Pentz who is currently under investigation by NYPD detectives,” a spokesperson said.
