Did Tori Amos just announce a record against Donald Trump?
A year ago he surprised everyone by releasing an album of children’s songs, “The music of Tori and the muses”, the soundtrack to the book of the same name nominated for a 2025 Grammy Award as “Best musical album for children”. Now Tori Amos returns with a new album of unreleased songs, this time for adults. And busy, in the true sense of the word. It’s called “In times of dragons”, it will be released on May 1st and is presented by the voice of “Conflake girl” as a very current album: «”I“n times of dragons” is a metaphorical story about the struggle for democracy against tyranny, reflecting the ongoing, abominable and non-accidental burning of democracy in real time by the ‘dictator-believing Lizard Demons’ in their usurpation of America,” says the singer-songwriter.
Already in 2017, a year after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections, the American singer-songwriter did not fail to have her say on the tycoon’s political line with songs such as “Up the creek” and “Bang”, contained in the album “Native invader”. In 2021, speaking of the political situation in the USA, he said: «The idea of having elected people willing to questioning the people’s vote and dragging us into authoritarianism I think has traumatized us all even more than we already were.” And again: «After the insurrection at the Capitol, I hit a wall and a sadness overwhelmed me and I couldn’t shake it off».
Immediately after the release of the album Tori Amos will start her tour, which will start on July 7th from West Palm Beach, Florida, to cross the entire United States, waiting to see her in action on European stages too.
