The Depeche Mode announce the new film-concert "M"

Depeche Mode: here is the unreleased extract “In The End”

Depeche Mode have released a new song, titled “In The End“. The song was recorded during the making of the album “Memento Mori”. The band also recently presented the film “M”, which tells Dave Gahan and Martin Gore’s journey “into the heart of Mexican culture’s relationship with death, framed by iconic live performances”. The project was created and directed by award-winning Mexican director Fernando Frias. “In the End” is a composition with a reflective and melancholic tone, built on atmospheric synths and an intense vocal line by Dave Gahan. The song takes up the central themes of “Memento Mori”, namely mortality, loss and memory, which the band had explored after the death of co-founder Andy Fletcher in 2022. Produced by James Ford, the song maintains the minimal and dark character of the main album, but with a more intimate and meditative approach. “In the End” was initially excluded from the final tracklist of “Memento Mori”, only to be rediscovered and published as part of a project to recover outtakes from those sessions.
