David di Donatello: it’s a challenge between Nine Inch Nails and Checco Zalone

The David Di Donatello 2026 will host an unlikely challenge between Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails and Checco Zalone. All true. The two musicians of the American industrial rock band will compete with the Apulian comedian for the award for “Best Original Song” at the next edition of the most important awards in Italian cinema, which will take place on Wednesday 6 May at the Cinecittà Studios, in Rome, and will be broadcast live in prime time on Rai1 hosted by Flavio Insinna. Reznor and Ross are nominated with “Vaster than empires”, the song they composed for the soundtrack of “Queer” by Luca Guadagnino, performed together with Caetano Veloso. Zalone, real name Luca Medici, is nominated instead with “La prostate enflamada”, one of the songs from his latest film “Buen Camino”, which with 76.5 million euros in takings has become the most watched film ever at the cinema in Italy.

In addition to Reznor and Ross and Checco Zalone, also competing for the “Best Original Song” award are Brunori Sas with “Arrivederciassociazione” (from the film of the same name by Giovanni Virgilio), Levante with “Follemente” (from the film of the same name by Paolo Genovese), Krano with “Ti” (from “Le città di plain” by Francesco Sossai).

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are also nominated for the award as “Best composer”, where we also find Franco Amurri with “La città prohibita”, Mauro Pagani with “Le gustotrici”, Krano with “Le città di plain” and Fabio Massimo Capogrosso with “Primavera”.

Pierpaolo Capovilla won a nomination for “Best Actor” for “The Cities of the Plain”.
