David Byrne and Hayley Williams: be careful of those two
Of the series: be careful of those two. A curious musical partnership between two artists only apparently distant from each other, has been born in the one hand: on the one hand David Byrne, the iconic ex frontman of the talking heads, a band symbol of the post-punk scene and new American wave on the late 1970s; on the other Hayley Williamsthe voice of the Paramore, a group of the most popular on the emo-pop scene of the 2000s. After the cover of “Burning Down The House” of the Talking Heads that the Paramore made last year for the tribute album to the David Byrne group, “Stop Making Sense: A Tribute Album”, the singer -songwriter and frontwoman of the US band joined their forces to work with unpublished music together. Not only the original song contained in the soundtrack of the new animated film by Netflix “Gli Sporcelli”, of which we had already reported here: Byrne has decided to have as a guest Hayley Williams also in his new, highly anticipated solo album “Who is the Sky?”, Outcoated this Friday seven years after the previous “American Utopia”.
The song resulting from the collaboration between Byrne and Williams is titled “What is the Reason for It?” And it was chosen as a new single from the album. The single is accompanied by the relative video clip, born from the creative collaboration between David Byrne and the artist Dustin Yellen: he uses cutting -edge technologies to animate over 20 original byne designs. Directed by Shira Indbar, the project highlights Yellen’s interest in new technologies capable of creating static images.
It is not known if “What is the Reason for it?” He was born from the same writing session that led to the genesis of “Open the Door”, the song that byrne engraved with Williams for the soundtrack of “Gli Sporcelli”, to be released on October 17 on Netflix, the first transposition of the children’s book of Roald Dahl of 1980. The other songs by Byrne for the project are titled “We’re not like Ev’Rso Else”, “Lullaby” and “The problem is you”.
