David Bowie: vinyl reissue for the 50th anniversary of “Young Americans”
A new 50th anniversary vinyl reissue of ‘s ninth album has been announced David Bowie “Young Americans”. This edition is scheduled for release on March 7, the same day the record was released in 1975. It will be available on a half-speed mastered LP and a picture disc LP with a poster, pressed from the same master.
According to a press release, the sequel to
“Diamond Dogs”
1974 saw Bowie “broaden his musical horizons once again, embracing what he called ‘Plastic Soul'”. The single
“Hunger”
(written by
John Lennon
and Bowie’s then guitarist,
Carlos Alomar
) would have given the English musician his first number one in the United States.
The album
“Young Americans”
was produced by
Tony Visconti
and recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia with a band that included
Mike Garson
(keyboards),
Luther Vandross
(voice) e
David Sanborn
(saxophone). Recording sessions also took place at Electric Lady and the Record Plant in New York.
