David Bowie: The projects he was working on before he died

A new documentary dedicated to David Bowie arrives. Signed by BBC Channel 4, the documentary will reveal the projects the late White Duke was working on before his death in January 2016, two days after releasing the album “Blackstar”, following an 18-month battle with cancer. Simply titled “The Final Act”, the documentary will soon be broadcast on BBC Channel 4 in the United Kingdom: the 90-minute film was made by Rogan Productions, the team behind “Freddie Mercury: The Final Act” and “ABBA: Against the Odds”. This is anticipated by Deadline, according to which the documentary “will chronicle the final creative chapter of one of music’s most iconic artists” and will feature rare interviews with those who knew and worked closely with Bowie.

Deadline also reports that the documentary will include interviews with fans and famous artists who were inspired by his work. The newspaper, one of the most authoritative and reliable sources for everything related to show biz, also anticipated that the documentary “will reveal the strategy behind Bowie’s artistic resurrection and the inexhaustible and extraordinary creativity that characterized his last decade, in which he released his acclaimed album ‘Blackstar’ just two days before his death”.

Speaking about the project, director Jonathan Stiasny said: “What fascinated me most while making this film was that Bowie’s final chapter was not an end, but a resurrection. He turned failure into triumph, silence into revelation and, finally, death into art.” Channel 4 executive Shaminder Nahal said: “Bowie was one of those rare artists whose imagination never dimmed. This film reveals how, when faced with the end, he found a way to push the boundaries and create something transcendent.”
