Damiano David transforms into Harry Styles

“Born with a broken heart”, the new solo single by Damiano Davidvoice of Maneskin, arrives after the first ring “Silverlines”, a very beautiful and theatrical piece, produced by Labrinth: two pieces completely different from each other that show the versatility of the Roman artist. In this second chapter of what will be his first solo album, Damiano seems to transform himself into Harry Styles. “Born with a broken heart” is a pop and energetic uptempo, in contrast to the more emotional lyrics. The song is characterized by a catchy chorus and a sound that gives lightness, recalling some songs by the former One Direction. Also on this tour Damiano rightly distances himself from the world of Maneskin and does something personal, of his own, with which to highlight, once again, his vocal skills. Yes, because “Born with a broken heart” also confirms how much Damiano is “playing” with his voice, showing different nuances and bringing it to new maturity.

“When I wrote this song, I was coming out of a very dark place – says the singer – I felt apathetic and I was afraid of having lost my ability to feel and experience feelings, both positive and negative. All of this happened around the time I was starting the most important relationship of my life and the fear of not being ready or up to par was enormous. I think this song was a way to make sense of what I was feeling, looking at it from a less scary perspective. I’m happy I don’t feel that way nowbut I think many people can find themselves in this sense of inadequacy.” The single is accompanied by a video, directed by Aerin Moreno, in which the artist shows off her “shapeshifting” skillsas he himself defined himself, in a sort of momentary illusion.

The video highlights the difference between Damiano as a person, with his limits, his normality, his fragility and the worlds and magic that music can create, all wrapped up in a cinematic atmosphere reminiscent of various Hollywood films. Regarding the video, Damiano states: “The video represents my fantasy. A world where, regardless of everything, once you walk through the door, everything becomes magical and beautiful. It’s a way of saying that not everything negative will hurt you, but sometimes it will actually lead you to the next chapter of your life. We all have the ability to turn negative experiences into something meaningful to us.” A few days ago, Damiano made his solo debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he performed “Silverlines” live and the world premiere of “Born with a broken heart”. The video featuring the exclusive performance of the new single on The Tonight Show will be available online from Monday 28 October.
