Courtney Love: 'Always wanted to be known as a bitch'

Courtney Love and Others Reread Marianne Faithfull

Courtney Love, Thurston Moore, My Bloody Valentine’s Debbie Googe and Portishead’s Adrian Utley recently joined forces at London’s Konk Studios to work with PJ Harvey collaborator Rob Ellis on a project dedicated to Marianne Faithfull.

According to a post shared on Instagram by Deb herself, the group of musicians worked on a cover project of the 77-year-old British artist, best known for being one of the most famous faces of Swinging London in the Sixties and Mick Jagger’s partner.

The caption accompanying the group shot published on social media by the historic bassist of My Bloody Valentine reads:

“I spent a day in the Kinks’ studio, playing Marianne Faithfull songs with a band featuring Courtney Love, Mr T, Barry Reynolds, Adrian Utley, Ben Christophers and Rob Ellis. As Morrissey would say: some days are bigger than others.”

The day in the studio was also documented by producer Ben Christophers, who in a post called the meeting “an incredible experience in the fusion of music and film. I don’t want to say much more, but you’ll find out soon enough.”

At the moment, no further details are known regarding the project dedicated to Marianne Faithfull, to whom the covers album released last December “The Faithful: a tribute to Marianne Faithfull” was dedicated, with songs by the London singer reinterpreted by various artists, including Cat Power, Iggy Pop and Shirley Manson of Garbage.
