The history of writing “All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade” begins in September 2022 in Port Antonio in Jamaica where Doherty and Barât reunite and far from any distractions the chemistry between the two is reborn. In February this year Peter and Carl reunited with John and Gary at The Albion Rooms and, says Doherty, “we're really back together as a band. It was a rare moment of peace and unity with the contribution of all the band members.”

Second Carl Baratthe journey of the Libertines brought them to this moment. “Our first record was born out of excitement and disbelief that we were actually allowed to be in a studio. The second was born from conflict, the third from complexity while in this one it seems like we were all really in the same place, at the same speed and really connected.”

Peter Doherty: “We are over the moon and we scored a goal… I'm very happy for the boys!” he then adds more seriously “I feel like we've come full circle as a band, and we can finally let everyone hear these songs because there are some really strong ones on the record. Will there be other Libertines records? I hope so!”.
