Coldplay: They Have the Highest-Grossing Rock Tour of All Time
The “Music of the Spheres” tour by Coldplay is officially the highest-grossing rock tour of all time. According to Billboard Boxscore, the British band’s current tour has grossed $945.7 million and sold 8.8 million tickets since it kicked off in March 2022.
The band of Chris Martin has surpassed the record previously set by the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour of Elton Johnwho earned $939 million with 328 concerts and five years of touring from September 8, 2018 to July 8, 2023.
THE Coldplay They still have 21 more concerts before the end of the tour, but it seems unlikely that they will be able to surpass the record set by Taylor Swift with the “Eras Tour” which last December was was the first to gross a billion dollarsAccording to Pollstar, Swift sold “a staggering 4.3 million tickets at an average price of $238.95.”
The “Music Of The Spheres” tour by Coldplay has been praised for “setting a new standard” when it comes to an eco-conscious approach to live music, thanks to a series of sustainable initiatives. In June, it was revealed that it had already produced 59% fewer CO2 emissions than its previous stadium tour in 2016 and 2017. This exceeded the target the Coldplay to beat previous tours by 50%. Thanks to the band’s promise to plant a tree for everyone who goes on the tour, 7 million trees have been planted worldwide.
