Coldplay, the album “Moon music” will be released in October

THE Coldplay have announced the release of their tenth album, “Moon Music”. The album will be released on October 4th. The first single from the album, “feelslikeimfallinginlove”, will be released on June 21st. The band performed the song for the first time last night during their concert at Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.

“Moon Music” was produced by Max Martin and is available with a limited number of signed editions available at the official Coldplay Store, on the store.coldplay.com website.

Together with the innovative sustainability measures adopted by Coldplay during the current tour – which has so far produced 59% less CO2 emissions than the previous stadium tour – the band has worked to make the physical release of “Moon Music” as sustainable as possible. This will be the first album in the world released on 140 gram EcoRecord rPET LP, each copy containing nine recycled PET plastic bottles recovered from post-consumer waste. This will avoid the production of over 25 metric tons of virgin plastic and will achieve an 85% reduction in CO2/kg emissions in the production process compared to traditional 140 gram vinyl.

The band collaborated with The Ocean Cleanup to create an additional format: the EcoRecord rPET LP Notebook Edition. This edition's rPET is made up of 70% river plastic, intercepted by The Ocean Cleanup in Rio Las Vacas, Guatemala, to prevent it from reaching the Gulf of Honduras and the Atlantic Ocean. The CD editions of “Moon Music” they will be the first in the world to be released on EcoCD, created with 90% recycled polycarbonate, sourced from post-consumer waste streams. This will reduce CO2 emissions/kg by at least 78% and avoid the production of more than five metric tons of virgin plastic.

In an effort to reduce waste, the first edition of “Moon Music” (both EcoRecord rPET LP and EcoCD) will be strictly limited and produced to higher specifications than future editions. All first edition EcoRecord rPET LP products will be individually numbered.

The Notebook edition (EcoCD and EcoRecord rPET LP) is available in a hardback book. The book is a faithful replica of the original study notebook by Chris Martin, featuring 28 pages of previously unpublished notes, lyrics and illustrations from the album's writing and recording process. The Notebook edition also includes additional voice notes and demos from the album's recording sessions, providing insight into the development of the music.
