Chvrches are about to return with a new album

Back after a long break for the reinterpretation of “Such great heights” by the Postal Service, included in the finale of the third season of the psychological drama “Tell me lies” on Disney+, Chvrches are now ready for a new recording chapter.

The trio formed by singer Lauren Mayberry together with multi-instrumentalists Iain Cook and Martin Doherty made it known in an exclusive interview for the British edition of “Billboard” that new material is on the way. During the chat, Mayberry highlighted how the band has jumped at the opportunity to participate in the music of “Tell me lies“, for which he also did a version of Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to love”, and announced that the group has almost “new album completed“. The latest study work published by Chvrches is “Screen Violence” of 2021, which – among other things – also included the collaboration with Robert Smith by The Cure on “How not to drown”.

“It was a real privilege to be able to create music for the premiere and season finale of ‘Tell me lies‘” Mayberry told “Billboard UK”: “Closing, like a parenthesis, the madness and pain of the Season 3 story arc was an honor. ‘Such great heights’ is basically a perfect song, so we were both excited and terrified to cover it. The Postal Service is a truly special band and their music means a lot to us“.

The singer of Chvrches, who will open My Bloody Valentine’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 27, then responded to the question: “What else is happening in the world of Chvrches? A new album is on the way?” This is Lauren Mayberry’s response:

“Yes, we’re pretty close to completing the new album. We actually recorded these covers during the studio sessions for the record. I don’t want to give too much away too soon, but we’re all very happy with what we’re making. There’s a sense of fun and a ferocity that’s something new for us. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
