Chris Robinson criticizes the audience and some of those present leave

The singer of Black Crowes, Chris Robinson, was booed after sarcastically responding to some concertgoers chanting “USA” during the band’s concert last night at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater in Tampa, Florida.

According to TMZ, trouble began when an image of the band’s mascot, a black raven dressed as Uncle Sam, appeared on a screen behind the stage, prompting some audience members to chant “USA.” “Thanks for the geography lesson. I don’t know what you have to be so proud of right now,” Robinson remarked into the microphone. These words sparked boos from the audience, and many even left the venue in protest.

As Ultimate Classic Rock reports, it’s not exactly clear what it says Chris Robinsonappears to declare: “…some of us have real faith. To those who are fucking booing us, some of us aren’t afraid. We’re certainly not fucking ignorant, so thank you!”

Speaking to Mojo last March, during an interview Robinson said: “I don’t care about politics. But I know what’s right and what’s wrong, and this shit that’s going on now is wrong. I’m almost 60. I don’t tell anyone what to do, because I don’t like being told what to do. But I know what’s right and what’s wrong. The world is on the brink with all this bullshit, but if there’s a man ready to fight in the streets, it’s got to be a young man, right? But These guys don’t seem to give a shit.”
