Caliber 35: the original soundtrack by Sandokan is out

The Caliber 35, or Massimo Martellotta, Enrico Gabrielli, Fabio Rondanini and Tommaso Colliva, they composed the music for the new series Sandokan: an international production produced by Lux Vide, a Fremantle Group company, in collaboration with Rai Fiction, broadcast on Rai 1 from 1 December 2025. The soundtrack, released by Lux Vide and distributed by Believe Digital, will be available from midnight on December 2nd on all digital platforms after the television premiere. To describe the world inhabited by pirates, English colonists, the sovereign’s troops and tribal peoples there is the music written ad hoc by Calibro 35sartorially constructed in themes and timbre palette to envelop the viewer in the imagery of the series. Thus the nineteenth-century dances of the consulate of Labuan, the sitars, flutes and strings of Singapore respond to the boarding of the orchestral rock-tinged pirateseei the choirs and percussions of the dense jungle of Borneo, while the themes of Brooke And Marianna they transform following the narrative evolution.

“Writing the new soundtrack for Sandokan was one of the biggest challenges we’ve ever undertaken. A complex plot full of characters and events, splendidly transposed into images by directors Jan and Nicola. We built a sound world from scratch that transported the viewer to Labuan, Singapore, the open sea or the jungle depending on where the story took us. We looked for and used oriental instruments, voices, orchestras and synthesizers, going far outside our comfort zone and making the most of years of research in the world of soundtrackswith great attention to the intense emotional registers that follow one another in this iconic story”, says the band. But there is no Sandokan swithout his song, and for the occasion the famous theme of the De Angelis Brothers comes reinterpreted in a modern key by Caliber 35with the voice of Giovanni Succi to interpret the new version.
